Job Description

The Head of Digital I&T Architecture and Computer Sciences is responsible for enterprise architecture, new technology introduction, and the enabling platforms that accelerate the shifts towards new way of working, such as agile. Central to this role is establishing principles that lead to platform architectures, data liberation, cloud services, and follow-on innovation. The role will lead the community of specialized architects in the community, and operate closely with portfolio and value realization. The role is accountable for the health of our emergent architecture, and ease of transition to our future architecture. Closely tied to the digital, information, and technology strategies, this position will work across organizations to ensure timely program execution and differential value. 

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities: 

Enterprise Architecture (Technology Dividend) 

  • Develop overall technology architectural direction for CSL’s Information and Technology portfolio, define target state blueprints for business, application and technology architecture. 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Information and Technology roadmap, architectural principles, standards, policies and solution governance. 

  • Responsible for serving as a point of escalation, review and approval for key issues and decisions for all architecture domains. 

  • Shape information and technology investments to reduce technical debt and increase modularity of the emergent enterprise architecture. 

  • Responsible for guiding the shift of programs with capital-intensity towards services with cloud operations. 

  • Design for the future scaling of digital lighthouses and innovations. 

  • Establish roadmap and measures of success for the intelligent enterprise. 

  • Support the global initiative on digital technology productivity. 

  • Chair the Architecture Review Board. 

New Technology Introduction (Patterns) 

  • Lead the enterprise platform strategy and application programming interface patterns for the liberation of data assets and the acceleration of two-speed digital technology. 

  • Develop architectural design centers for pattern and technology adoption, including Robotic Process Automation, Blockchain, augmented and virtual reality. 

  • Responsible for setting the technology direction for all touch points with external scientists, physicians, donors or patients. 

  • Establish patterns of practice for Agile and DevOps.  

Emerging Platform Fabrication 

  • Responsible for assembling and operating the Agile tool chain, ensuring controls in an environment of regulated systems. 

  • Lead technology introduction with enabling software platforms for model management, data management for 3D environments, Blockchain solutions and beyond. 

  • Responsible for attracting, nurturing, and diffusing talent with modern skills and digital acumen. 

 

Education 

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, or Management Information Systems. 

 

Experience

  • 15+ years information and technology experience, including specific experience in architecture, agile, and systems development. 

  • Pharma/Biotech or similarly regulated environment experience desirable. 

  • Demonstrated ability to influence at all organizational levels through clear, concise, and impactful verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Ability to build, mentor and grow a high performing and cohesive team. 

  • Adaptable to handle a fast-paced working environment.  

  • Exceptional listener and collaborator. 

  • Ability to work across a range of countries and cultures.
