Job Summary:

The Future Wireless North America (FWNA) group within InterDigital's Research and Innovation (R&I) organization is responsible for leading InterDigital's North American next generation wireless research projects. Our charter is to identify future technology needs, develop and learn from proof-of-concept prototypes, and innovate around a system focus. Today, our team is at the leading edge of 6G research.

We are seeking a highly motivated intern to work in our team to analyze topics, identify problems and propose solutions for next generation mobile networks (e.g., blockchain-enabled 6G cellular networks and services). The ideal candidate will have experience or in-depth knowledge in at least one of following areas: future wireless networks, decentralized networking, converged communication and computing, blockchain technology, and AI-enabled networking and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify key issues and enabling technologies for future wireless networks and services (e.g., blockchain-based decentralized services);
  • Propose innovative architectural and protocol-based solutions for future wireless networks and services;
  • Evaluate, assess, and validate candidate solutions (e.g., via analysis and prototyping);
  • Communicate results to internal and external audiences (e.g., technical reports, white papers, presentations, conference/journal papers, etc.); and
  • Get involved in relevant standardization.

Qualifications:

  • Available for six months;
  • PhD student studying in studying in Telecommunications / Network Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, with research focused on any area of wireless communications, distributed computing, networking, etc.;
  • Proven publication record in prestigious conferences and journals; and
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Exceptional experience in these areas will be considered.

  • Knowledge about 5G system architecture and network functions;
  • Excellent ability for conducting cross-disciplinary research (e.g., AI/ML and blockchain);
  • Strong analytical and research skills;
  • Hands-on experience with blockchain technology platforms (e.g., Hyperledger) and/or AI/ML platforms (e.g., PyTorch); and
  • Knowledge about cloud-based blockchain as a service.

Location: This role will be located onsite / hybrid in Conshohocken, PA
