Enterprise Architect

Location: Plano, TX

Be part of the team that sets the direction of the IT organization to support current and future business models, strategies, and processes. Design information systems to support enterprise infrastructure and “cloud” services, including high availability, disaster recovery, and efficient use of resources. Support the definition, documentation, and communication of enterprise architecture. Interface with project teams to analyze system requirements and ensure that systems and services offer security and integrate effectively with current applications. Consult to application development teams regarding new technologies, system requirements, and enterprise and solutions architecture options. Oversee the documentation of solution blueprints in context of enterprise reference architecture and transition architectures roadmap. Creatively solve architectural problems, with an eye toward simplicity, adherence to core principles, and advancement of long-term strategy.


Other Duties

  • Gather and analyze data through interview, observation, workshops, and independent research
  • Stay engaged with multiple project teams and provide architecture / design input
  • Stay current with developing technologies and forecast impact of changing technologies
  • Work closely with other architects in designing solutions that are reusable and cost-effective
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to conduct and demonstrate proofs-of-concept for new products and technologies
  • Develop and deliver training in architecture and modeling topics to technical audiences



  • Eight to twelve years of IT experience
  • Minimum five years of experience as a solutions, infrastructure, or enterprise architect
  • Systems engineering background
  • Demonstrated experience modeling systems using an architecture modeling tool such as IBM / Rational / Telelogic / Popkin System Architect, Sparx Enterprise Architect, or Avolution ABACUS.
  • Ability to create high-quality architecture documentation – demonstrated written and verbal skills in describing architectures and designs
  • Foundation in TOGAF and other architecture frameworks and experience applying / tailoring to company needs
  • Understanding of the key architecture domains: business, information, application and technical
  • Familiarity with the TOGAF and ArchiMate metamodels and the ability to tailor them to company needs
  • Ability to define and develop reference architecture strategies and roadmaps in support of company strategic plans
  • Experience developing and documenting enterprise architecture plans using the Business Motivation Model or similar modeling framework
  • Experience defining, developing and presenting enterprise architecture and solution architecture training in presentation and video form
  • Experience developing and managing architecture and solution patterns
  • Familiarity with business process modeling using the BPMN 2.0
  • Knowledge of key architecture governance models, underlying tools, and supporting processes (e.g., architecture approval, architecture change control, enterprise architecture's role in project and standards oversight)
  • Experience working with systems that implement security, logging, auditing, policy management, policy enforcement, and performance monitoring for end-to-end process execution
  • Experience engineering systems serving many of the following functions: email, single sign-on, website security, knowledge/content/document management, Internet web application, mobile application, monitoring, reporting & analytics, business intelligence, data warehouse, operational data store, configuration management, back-up, collaboration, voice/video infrastructure, data center automation, web services, messaging
  • Experience with most of the following technologies: .Net, J2EE, SOA, ESB, JMS, MQ, SOAP, REST, XML, WS-*, SAML, virtualization, ESX, storage virtualization, load balancing, proxy, RAID, SAN, NAS, Linux, Solaris, Windows, OLTP, DSS, hadoop, fault tolerant architectures, high availability (HA), business continuity / disaster recovery (DR) architectures, IDS, IPS, DLP, mainframe, RACF, blockchain
